Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 10S, the latest smartphone from its Redmi Note series in the country last week. This phone from Redmi is a mid-budget smartphone. 6 GB of RAM and a built-in 64 GB storage version for this phone were launched at 14,999 rupees while 6 GB of RAM and a 128 GB storage version were launched for 15,999 rupees. The phone will compete with the company's Redmi Note 10 Pro. We have been using, testing, and testing this Redmi phone for a while. Let's tell you how much we loved this Redmi smartphone. Let's review it and know all the pros and cons.
Design and Look
When you see the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S at first glance, you will feel beautiful. We have a deep-sea blue version of the device which is appealing. Talk about the next part, here's holding the screen. The display has a cutout for the front camera at the top but is slightly lower than usual. However, we did not see any problem as a result. The phone has thinner edges and curved edges. Convenient to hold the phone in hand due to its curved edges. However, the phone feels a bit heavy in the hands. The phone weighs 178.8 grams. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 can be protected on a smartphone.
Talk about design, there are fingerprint sensors and rocker buttons at the far right. These buttons are easy to use and you can easily unlock the phone using the fingerprint scanner while holding it in your hand. On the left side, you will not find any button and you will see the SIM tray here. The good thing is that in this Xiaomi phone, you can use both SIM and MicroSD cards at the same time. Around the SIM tray, there is rubber steel that will help keep the water away.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S features a stereo speaker grille at the top and bottom. The phone has a Type C USB port and the bottom of a headphone jack. The Redmi Note 10 S comes with an IP53 rating which means it is dust and water-resistant.
Talk about the back panel, and the Deep Sea Blue unit comes with a gradient finish. Fingerprints do not fall on it very quickly, but we still recommend that it is better to use a phone with the transparent cover that comes in the box. The camera module is on the top left like the M11 X Pro on the back panel of the phone. Along with that, there is also a LED flash. The camera module faces slightly outwards, which means that placing the phone on a flat surface can cause scratches on it. In the back panel, you will find the Redmi branding.
Redmi Note 10S Specifications
The Redmi Note 10S smartphone has a FullHD + AMOLED screen measuring 6.43 inches and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the screen. This Redmi phone has an octa-core MediaTek Helio G95 processor. The Mali-G76 GPU exists for graphics. The phone offers 64 GB and 128 GB of built-in storage with 6 GB of RAM. We recommend choosing a storage version of the only 128GB.
The connectivity of the phone was provided with features such as 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, IR Blaster, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The ambient lighting sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer were provided in the device. Also on the side, you get a fingerprint scanner.
The 5000mAh battery is supplied in the Redmi Note 10S, which supports fast charging of 33 watts. The company also gave a quick charger in the box. The phone measures 160.46x74.5x8.29 millimeters and weighs 178.8 grams. The Redmi Note 10S comes with IP-53 certification and is dust and water-resistant. This phone provided dual speakers with high-resolution audio. This Redmi phone runs on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. Talk the camera, the Note 10S has a 64-megapixel main sensor, equipped with an F / 1.79 aperture. Apart from that, there is also an extra-wide 8-megapixel angle with an F / 2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro with an F / 2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with an F / 2.4 aperture. The phone has a 13-megapixel front camera with an F / 2.45 aperture.
Redmi Note 10S: Performance
The Redmi Note 10S has the best Super AMOLED display and it's nice to see content on it. The colors look good on display and we had no problem using the phone even in sunlight. The display is equipped with a 360-degree ambient light sensor. The phone adjusts the auto-brightness. Reading Mode 3.0 is provided on the phone, making the eyes less annoying while reading content. Other than that, low blue light certification was also found in the Redmi Note 10S.
Xiaomi has provided dual speakers with high-resolution audio in the phone that provides excellent sound. The speakers are decent but not powerful enough. This Xiaomi phone has a fingerprint scanner on the side, which unlocks the phone quickly. During our test, we had no problem using the fingerprint scanner.
In terms of specs and price, the apps in Note 10S are working properly and we had no problem replacing them. We were able to play the game on the phone easily, however, it's a bit hot while playing. We have not seen any issues like frame breaks during heavy games like Call of Duty.
Speaking of battery life, the 5000mAh battery provided in the Redmi Note 10S charges more than 50 percent in half an hour. After a full charge, we were able to turn on the device for one day. Xiaomi has provided a 33-watt fast charger with the phone which charges the phone quickly. But we notice that the phone heats up during charging.
Redmi Note 10S: Camera
A square camera installation was provided in the Redmi Note 10S. The phone has primary depth sensors of 48 megapixels, 8 megapixels that are extra wide, 2 megapixels, and 2 megapixels. The Me Camera app is the same as the previous one and it is easy to switch between different camera modes. However, for macro photography, you have to go to the menu in the top left corner and click on the macro option. Users may have a hard time finding this macro photography option. It would have been better for the company to list this option along with the other situations.
Talk about selfies and then you can take good pictures in daylight. And you can share them without editing on social media. But if there is less light inside the house, you will get a bad result. The quality is not particularly good even when it is a good light.
Speaking of video recording, during the shooting of the main camera of the phone and 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second, the video is well recorded during the day. But even here you will feel disappointment from low light. The camera app has a feature called Movie Frame which is fun which means you like to create creative videos, then you will love this model.
Our decision
Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi Note 10S at a starting price of Rs 14,999. Many other phones of the company are in the market in this price segment. Most phones in the smartphone market are launched at this price and this is a segment that has a demand for strong specs. The performance of the Redmi Note 10S is good and we did not encounter any lag.
The phone has features such as a better Super AMOLED display, dual speakers, IP-53 rating. With MIUI 12.5 the phone user interface experience is also better. Fast charging available. But in terms of the camera, the phone is a bit disappointing. The Redmi Note 10 S, which comes in for 15,000, is a great option. The phone can be purchased in two storage versions. We recommend that you buy only the version with more storage space. However, for this, you will have to spend a little more. If you look at Shiomi's record, the 10S Note is also likely to prove a successful budget phone.
