Less than a year after its debut, Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn Entertainment have announced that Apex Legends Mobile would be shut down. Respawn Entertainment, the company behind Apex Legends Mobile, announced in a tweet that the game will stop being available for iOS and Android on May 1. 

The game will stop working at 4 PM PDT on May 1, 2023, or 5:30 AM IST on May 2, 2023, according to the business, after which players won't be able to access it on their Android or iPhone cellphones. 

"After a promising beginning, the quality, quantity, and frequency of the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has started to lag behind that standard. This is the reason we have mutually decided to sunset our mobile game after months of working with our development partner, Respawn Entertainment said in a blog post.

What occurs next?

The firm explained the change and stated that it would give gamers a 90-day window before permanently shutting down the Apex Legends Mobile servers. The timeframe of 90 days began on January 31. The firm also said that it has begun to disable any in-app purchases made with real money in the game and that it will soon remove the game from Google's Play Store and Apple's App Store. 

Additionally, according to Respawn Entertainment, gamers can use their current Syndicate Gold within the 90-day term to keep playing the entire game. The firm stated in the FAQ part of the blog article, "You'll be able to enjoy all previously purchased and acquired in-game content throughout the ninety (90) day sunset period as well. 

The business added that it will not issue refunds for in-game purchases made with real money.

Then what?

Along with Apex Legends Mobile, EA Games also made the announcement that Battlefield Mobile development had been halted. EA added that it is currently working on Battlefield 2042 and that the game is in pre-production stage at its studio. "As the industry has evolved and our strategy to create a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem has taken shape, we decided to pivot from the current direction to best deliver on our vision for the franchise and to meet the expectations of our players," EA said.
